Is there a conference registration fee?
No - there is no conference registration free. However, anyone attending who is NOT a current undergraduate student at Skidmore College will need to pay for his/her/their lodging and meals outside of the ones provided during the conference.
I am an undergraduate student attending another institution, am I allowed to register?
Yes - there are a limited number of spots remaining for the conference, so register ASAP. Again, anyone attending the conference outside of current students at Skidmore College will need to pay for his/her/their lodging accommodations. The bulk of the conference events are taking place on Saturday, April 7th, so you are more than welcome to attend for just one day if that is most convenient. Day parking is available in the Palamountain Lot, North Hall Lot and Falstaffs Lot.
I am a Skidmore alumnus and want to get involved with the conference, what can I do?
On Saturday, April 7th, there is an Alumni Network Luncheon (see Main Menu > Calendar of Events) for alumni, staff and faculty of color to meet with current students of color to discuss post-graduation pathways and share insights and advice. The final RSVP deadline is March 20, and the link can be found on the Calendar of Events page. Alumni are welcome to attend the public events for the conference, which include the Keynote Address, Student of Color Talent Showcase and Social at Falstaffs. Alumni are also welcome to submit workshop proposals (see Main Menu > Workshops). We have a limited amount of funding available to assist Skidmore alumni in offsetting the cost of transportation. If you are in need of financial assistance, contact the conference organizer at [email protected].
I do not identify as a person of color, will I be able to engage with the conference themes?
Yes - while registration is intended for students of color, the conference themes are timely, important and necessary for ALL to engage. Any of the events listed on the Calendar of Events page that are marked public are open to any Skidmore community member or member of the larger Saratoga County community. All other events are specifically offered for registered participants.
I registered late, is there a chance I can still participate?
Possibly - we are keeping a running waitlist and will let you know if more space is made available! At the very least, you are welcome to attend the public events!
I'm interested in learning more about the conference or have ideas I would like to suggest, what do I do?
We are open to any and all suggestions - please feel free to contact the conference organizer at [email protected].
